8.17.2025 – Within the Cutting Directions, cut 7 1/2″ squares of colored fabric and dark gray fabric rather than 6 1/2″ squares. Use these 7 1/2″ squares to make the four at a time 4 1/2″ half square triangles needed for making the blocks.
Balsam Gnomes Quilt and Birch Gnomes Quilt
6.6.2024 – Incorrect yardage listed for gnome fabrics. Follow the directions below to make the pattern.
Increase yardage of Red Print Fabric (for Balsam Gnomes) or Gray Print Fabric (for Birch Gnomes) to 1 1/2 yards (rather than just 1 yard), or follow directions below if using only 1 yard of fabric
Directions for using only 1 yard of Red or Gray Print Fabric: Cut 24 – 5 1/4″ x 6 1/2″ pieces* and Cut 24 – 2 1/2″ x 7 1/2″ strips
Center and sew the 5 1/4″ side of one red print or gray print piece to the 8” side of one white piece. Repeat for all 24. Then cut 24 triangles from this unit using Template A.

9.12.2023 – Printed patterns may have incorrect template sizes. Any new patterns being shipped after this date have the correct template size. The original printed templates were 1/8″ too small all the way around, and unfortunately the error was not caught until now. You can either trim each tree block 1/4″ shorter, or email me at [email protected] and I will send you accurate PDF digital templates (REQUIRED: include the name of the quilt shop where you purchased the printed pattern).

2.19.2024 – Incorrect information was given on how to make Unique Block 1. Rather than measuring 7/8″ from the lower left corner the correct measurement should be 1 1/8″.
