Ingredients in the Candy Bar Bars

The base of these candy bar bars is made up of a layer of baked chocolate chip cookie dough.

To make this yummy layer you’ll need dry ingredients consisting of 2 ¼ cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and 1 teaspoon salt.

The moist ingredients include 1 cup butter (softened), ¾ cup sugar, ¾ cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 eggs.

Include 1 package (12 ounces) chocolate chips and ½ -1 cup chopped walnuts.

The center of the bars is made of 1 cup peanut butter and another 12 ounce package of chocolate chips.  I like to use milk chocolate chips, but you can use whichever type you prefer! There’s no wrong choice!!

And the topping is chopped candy bars.  You’ll need 4 full-size bars.  My favorite to use are Butterfinger bars that add to the peanut butter and chocolate yumminess!!!

But you can use any kind of candy bar you’d like.  I don’t think there’s a wrong choice here either, lol!

Mixing up the Base Layer of the Candy Bar Bars

Mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt into a small mixing bowl.  Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl measure in the sugar, brown sugar, and butter.  Cream together until smooth and dreamy.

Add the eggs and vanilla and stir together well.

In three batches slowly stir in the dry ingredients.  The dough will get stiffer as you go.  Thank goodness for my Kitchenaid mixer!!!

Add the chocolate chips and walnuts and mix them in well to the dough.

Press this cookie dough mixture into the bottom of a 9 x 13 baking pan.

Bake for 25 minutes at 375 degrees until the cookie layer is turning golden brown.  I love the look and smell of this cookie layer as it bakes!!! So yummy!

Add the Middle and Top Layers

In a medium size mixing bowl add the peanut butter and chocolate chips.  Pop in the microwave for about 30 seconds until the chocolate chips get a little shiny.  Stir up the melty peanut butter and chocolate to mix it all together.

Spread this peanuty chocolately loveliness on top of the cookie layer.  Oh my gosh it’s so gooey and yummy looking you may need to just take a little taste test at this point, lol!

Chop up the candy bars into chunks and sprinkle them on top of the melted peanut butter and chocolate layer.

Pop this all back in the oven for about 3 minutes.
