Ingredients in the Pineapple Ham Flatbread Pizza recipe

I love to keep all of these ingredients stocked in my freezer, fridge, or pantry!  It’s so easy to pull them together whenever we’re craving a delicious homemade pizza!!

Crust

I pick up flat bread at my local Aldi store and keep them in the freezer so they’re ready to use anytime!  You’ll need one flatbread for this pineapple ham flatbread pizza recipe!

If you don’t have flatbread on hand you can substitute it for homemade or refrigerated pizza crust.

Sauce

I use marinara as the sauce for this delicious and easy pizza recipe!

Whenever I open a jar or marinara I freeze measured portions so it doesn’t go to waste.  This way I can pull out a frozen packet of sauce and warm it in a little hot water so it’s ready to use in no time flat!

Any type of marinara sauce will work, or you can make your own!

To make your own marinara sauce you’ll need 1/2 cup tomato sauce,1 teaspoon dried oregano, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, and salt and pepper to taste!

Toppings for the Pineapple Ham Pizza Recipe

I use 1/2 cup diced deli ham!

You can also use cooked leftover ham or substitute the ham for Canadian bacon!!

Use 3/4 cup fresh pineapple chunks or canned pineapple tidbits (drained) on top of this yummy flatbread!

Shredded mozzarella cheese adds the salty and savory flavor to this pineapple ham flatbread pizza recipe.  You can also use a mixture of shredded Italian cheeses to add even more flavor to this dish!!

Add Some Zip!

Jalepeno peppers add a pop of zing to this fun flatbread pizza! Adding a diced jalapeño pepper to your pineapple and ham flatbread pizza can be a great idea if you enjoy some extra heat and a touch of spiciness. Jalapeños can add a nice contrast to the sweetness of the pineapple and the saltiness of the ham.

The jalapeño peppers will bring an extra kick to the pizza, making it even more flavorful. Just be mindful of the amount you use, as jalapeños can be quite spicy. If you’re unsure about the level of spiciness, you can start by adding a few slices and then adjust according to your taste preferences.

Instead of (or in addition to!) jalepeno peppers you can add green peppers to the top of this pizza.

Green peppers can be a fantastic addition to your pineapple and ham flatbread pizza recipe!

The combination of green peppers, pineapple, ham, and cheese creates a wonderful balance of flavors and textures. The slightly sweet and tangy taste of the green peppers complements the sweetness of the pineapple, while the ham and cheese add savory richness to the overall taste.

If you want a milder flavor on the pizza you can omit the peppers.  Or double up on them for even more zip!

There are no rules!!

Thin slices of red onion add a wonderful flavor to your pineapple and ham flatbread pizza. They bring a mild sweetness and a subtle hint of sharpness to the overall taste profile. When cooked, red onions tend to mellow out and become slightly caramelized, enhancing their natural sweetness.

Making the Pineapple Ham Flatbread Pizza Recipe

Preheat your oven to 400F (200C).

Prepare the sauce:

If you’re making homemade marinara sauce follow these directions:

In a small bowl, mix the tomato sauce with the dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Adjust the seasoning according to your taste preferences. Set aside.

Assemble the flatbread pizza:

If using store-bought flatbread, place it on a baking sheet or pizza stone. Line the baking utensil with aluminum foil to make clean up easy!!

If using pre-made pizza dough, roll it out on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness.

Spread the sauce evenly over the flatbread or pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

Distribute the diced ham on top of the sauce.

Add the pineapple chunks evenly across the flatbread.

Add the diced peppers all over!

Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce and toppings, covering the flatbread evenly.

Lay the sliced red onion over the top of the cheese!

Bake the pizza:

Carefully transfer the assembled flatbread pizza to the preheated oven.

Bake for about 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges of the flatbread are lightly browned.

Remove the flatbread pizza from the oven.

Let the pizza cool for a minute or two before slicing it.

Serve hot and enjoy!!

Happy cooking!

Storing and Reheating the Leftover Pineapple Ham Flatbread Pizza Recipe!

Storing and reheating leftover flatbread pizza is quite straightforward. Here are the steps to ensure your pizza stays fresh and tasty:

Storing leftover flatbread pizza:

Allow the leftover pizza to cool down to room temperature before storing it. This helps prevent condensation and sogginess.

Wrap the pizza slices or the whole pizza tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Alternatively, you can use an airtight container.

Place the wrapped or containerized pizza in the refrigerator. The pizza will stay fresh for up to 3-4 days when refrigerated.

Reheating leftover flatbread pizza:

There are several methods to reheat flatbread pizza, depending on your preference and available tools:

Oven method:

Preheat your oven to around 375°F (190°C).

Remove the pizza from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes to take off the chill.

Place the pizza directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet.

Reheat for about 5-10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the crust becomes crispy again.

Toaster oven method:

Preheat your toaster oven to around 375°F (190°C).

If your flatbread slices fit in the toaster oven, you can place them directly on the oven rack.

Otherwise, you can place the slices on a baking sheet or toaster oven-safe tray.

Reheat for about 3-5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the crust becomes crispy.

Microwave method (for quick reheating):

While this method is convenient, the crust may not remain as crispy as with the oven or toaster oven methods.

Place a slice of pizza on a microwave-safe plate.

Microwave on medium power for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, depending on your microwave’s strength. Watch it closely to avoid overheating or making the crust soggy.

Remember that reheating pizza multiple times may affect its quality, so it’s best to reheat only the portion you plan to consume. If you have a lot of leftover pizza, consider reheating only what you’ll eat and store the rest for another time.

Enjoy!
