Ingredients for the Thumbprint Heart Cookie Recipe
You’ll probably have everything in your pantry to make these yummy little cuties! Sugars, flour, butter, cornstarch, eggs, either vanilla or almond extract, and jam. That’s it!
You’ll also need to line the cookie sheet with parchment paper to bake up these cookies.
Mix the Dough
Make sure to take the butter out ahead of making the cookies, so it’s easily mixed together in the dough. Cream softened butter with the sugars.
Then, mix in the egg yolk and extract.
To the wet mixture add in all of the dry ingredients. Mix well until a soft dough forms.
Making the Cookies
Scoop out Tablespoon size piece of dough. Roll into a ball and roll in extra sugar. Place on parchment lined cookie sheets. Repeat until you’ve formed balls with all of the dough.
Use your pinky to press the “heart” into each of the balls. Freeze these cookies for 30 minutes to firm up.
Heat jam 5-10 seconds in the microwave. Spoon a little jam into each heart.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10-13 minutes. Cookies are done when they’ve turned a lovely golden color.
Remove to wire racks to cool.
Enjoy!!!
