Ingredients in the Homemade Frozen Piña Colada recipe…

I like to use coconut flavored rum in my homemade frozen Piña Colada to give it that extra coconut flavor!  You can also use white rum in a pinch!

You’ll also need either canned or refrigerated pineapple juice.  It’s so convenient to buy the little 6 ounce cans of pineapple juice to keep on hand.  Sometimes it’s hard to use up a whole big container of pineapple juice.  But if you’re serving a crowd you’ll definitely want to go for the larger quantity size!!

Coconut cream adds even more creamy dreamy coconut flavor to these drinks.  This usually comes in a can and you can find it in the ethnic food section of the grocery store.

Ice and a slice of pineapple and a maraschino cherry finished off this frosty drink!

Dried pineapple works really well to keep on hand for garnishing Piña Coladas! If you want to learn how to make dried pineapple click on this link!

Making the Homemade Piña Colada…

Place 3 cups of ice in the blender.  If you have crushed ice that works even better than cubes to easily blend up!

ice for the homemade pina colada

Pour the rum, pineapple juice, and coconut cream over the ice.

Blend until the ice is reduced to frosty smoothness!  Sometimes I turn off the blender and turn it back on again to get everything well mixed.  I have an oldie though, the newer blenders will probably whip everything up in a snap!

Pour the drink into a wide-rimmed glass.  Top with a maraschino cherry or two.  Add a fun straw and you’re all set to kick back and cool off with this refreshing cocktail!

Cheers!!!
