Ingredients in this Easy Pork Chop Recipe

There are only a handful of ingredients in this original recipe.

Picking the Pork Chops to Use

If this is your first time or second time shopping for pork chops, there are so many different cuts to choose from!  Whether you purchase thick cut, thin cut, or boneless pork chops you really can’t go wrong.  You could even use sliced pork tenderloin to make this easy recipe.

The important thing with the thickness of meat will be the cooking time required to achieve a tender, done pork chop.  For thinner chops you’ll need to bake them for a shorter amount of time, and for the best results and tenderness you’ll need to back thick chops a little longer.  Personally, I like to use thinner chops but I’ll provide baking times for all cuts.

Other Ingredients in this Easy Meal

Ritz crackers or saltine crackers make up the coating for these breaded pork chops.

You could use panko bread crumbs or Italian bread crumbs as a substitute for the crackers.  Any of these options will work in the breading mixture!

You’ll also need a large egg and a half cup of milk to make an egg wash to dip the pork chops into.  You could substitute the milk for cold water, but I like to use milk.  A little salt and black pepper also adds extra flavor to this meal.

The last ingredient needed is a little olive oil spray or other cooking spray.

Making this Easy Meal

Gather the following supplies and follow the directions below to make this easy meal!

Supplies

You’ll need a large skillet or frying pan to brown the breaded chops.   You’ll also need a baking sheet to bake pork chops on.

Other supplies needed are a food processor or rolling pin (you’ll need a large plastic bag if using a rolling pin), a whisk or a fork, a small bowl and a shallow bowl, and a spatula.

Directions for Making this Meal

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. and spray the baking sheet with olive oil spray or other non-stick spray.

Use a food processor or a rolling pin to crush the crackers.

I’m a bit old-fashioned, so I think the best way to achieve this task it to place the crackers in a large resealable plastic bag and crush them with the rolling pin.  It’s less mess, and no clean up!  Just throw the bag away when you’re done.  You can also rinse out the plastic bag and reuse it for some other task in the future!

Place crushed crackers in a shallow bowl or pie dish.  Add the salt and black pepper to the crumbs.

Crack open the egg into a small bowl and mix in the milk to make the egg mixture.  Use a little whisk or a fork to combine egg and milk together.  Again, you can substitute water for the milk if you need to.  Transfer this mixture to another shallow bowl or pie dish.

Rinse the pork chops and pat them dry with paper towels.

At this point you can spray your skillet and place it over medium heat or medium-high heat to heat oil.  It’ll just take a minute or so to get the pork chops ready add to the pan.

Dip the pork chops into the egg wash to coat each side.

Then into the bread crumb mixture to coat each side.

Place the coated pork chop to the skillet to brown it.  The cook time is about 2-3 minutes on each side until the breaded pork chops are golden brown.

Transfer the fried pork chops to the baking sheet.  Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes. If using thin pork chops you’ll only need to bake them for about 30 minutes!

When the pork chops are done you will have a crispy coating on the outside and juicy meat on the inside.  Yum!!!

What to Serve with Breaded Pork Chops?

The only way to serve these tasty pork chops is with a couple of delicious sides.  When I made this meal last night I made scalloped potatoes and a green bean casserole to complete the meal.

Other favorite sides to go along with these breaded pork chops are a simple salad along with Au Gratin Potatoes or Twice-Baked Potato Casserole, and Cheesy Broccoli Casserole or Crazy Beans!  For dessert you could serve Rhubarb Torte or a nice Pound Cake with strawberries.  So yummy!
